BNZ: Modular Innovation at National Scale

When BNZ initiated a nationwide branch transformation programme, the bank needed more than a like-for-like refit. The ambition was to deliver a next-generation branch environment, one that could respond to changing customer behaviours, privacy expectations, and operational demands, all while being rolled out consistently at scale. RD was engaged as the strategic joinery and innovation partner to make it happen.

Rather than simply manufacturing to specification, RD proactively value-engineered the joinery and meeting room elements across the programme. This was a strategic response to BNZ’s wider objectives of speed, consistency, quality, and future scalability, enabling components to be built off-site and installed with minimal on-site trades.

A standout example is RD Flexible Space, a fully modular meeting room system now deployed across BNZ’s nationwide network. Pre-finished and structurally self-supporting, each room arrives on site with integrated lighting, power, ventilation, and enhanced acoustics, ready for rapid assembly. The system has become a core component of BNZ’s new branch spatial model, fundamentally changing how branches are delivered: faster, more consistent, and fully scalable across the network.
