Westpac Auckland: Redefining High-Level Digital Signage

When Westpac’s head office signage in Auckland’s Britomart precinct began to degrade after a decade of service, a straightforward replacement was the expected path. RD saw an opportunity to do something unprecedented in the New Zealand market.

RD designed a digital signage solution shaped precisely to Westpac’s logo form, with a critical innovation: should power ever be unavailable, the sign remains permanently brand-compliant, always Westpac Red. By day, painted aluminium masks over LED modules deliver vivid brand visibility under natural light. By night, the LEDs illuminate to create a dynamic, unmissable display. This dual-mode functionality delivers round-the-clock brand presence with energy-efficient performance.

Beyond always-on branding, the system gives Westpac a powerful new communications platform. The logo now functions as a digital billboard, enabling Westpac to celebrate events like Diwali, ANZAC Day, and Pride Week, and to promote its sponsorship of the Westpac Helicopter Trust. It is a genuine differentiator in the Auckland central city skyline.
